Special rates have been negotiated with hotels (see information below).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hondarribia<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Today Hondarribia is a small city (16000 located at the mouth of the Bidasoa river, in a particularly beautiful and calm landscape. But its strategic location, on the border with the neighbouring kingdom of France, meant that it played a highly prominent role in wars over the centuries.<br>The town was built on a small hill overlooking the bay, in a strong defensive location, and was considered the key to the kingdom: the stronghold that had to be conquered by anyone seeking to move into Castile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Its urban centre still contains many vestiges of its heroic past, as we will have the chance to see, and it is the only well-preserved stronghold in the Basque Autonomous Community.Gipuzkoa\u2019s best-preserved walled city. Its extensive walls contain a medieval layout with ancient and noble buildings, narrow streets, cobblestones\u2026 heritage and history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, Hondarribia \u2012the city\u2019s sole official name since 1980\u2012 has 16,500 inhabitants, rising to 40,000 in the summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More information about the city <a href=\"https:\/\/hondarribiaturismo.com\/en\/\">https:\/\/hondarribiaturismo.com\/en\/<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&nbsp;<em>Transportation Options<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Hondarribia is located 3 km far from San Sebastian airpott. There are taxis available there. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another option is to travel by plane to Biarritz (France) and take a taxi from Biarritz &nbsp;(34 km).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>French trains also stop in Hendaye located 2 km from Hondarribia (you can pick a taxi from there also).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trains are also running from Madrid or Barcelona to Irun (6 km from Hondarribia) where you can pick a taxi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>Hotel Reservations<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There are special rates negotiated with hotels, to make a reservation please send an email to <a href=\"mailto:SSAFR2024@ctfc.cat\">SSAFR2024@ctfc.cat<\/a> and eventostxingudi(a)gmail.com indicating the code SSAFR2024 Hotel Reservation in the subject and choosing the hotel and the type of room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Hotel Jaizkibel (conference venue).
