Awards

The students and early stage researchers will have the possibility of being selected for three awards for the best oral presentation (150 euros each), plus the possibility of publishing their research for free on the journal Forests Monitor.

The award is sponsorized by the Forests Monitor journal (FM), an international peer-reviewed open-access journal devoted to the applied science of multifunctional forest ecosystems, with a primary objective of enhancing forest management and conservation in support of good governance worldwide.FM has three broad focal areas: forest ecology and conservation, forest management and planning, and forest policy and economics.

We have the pleasure to announce the three winners:

  • Sergio Rodríguez Fernández (Instituto Superior de Agronomia, Portugal) for the presentation with title “Integrating Stakeholder Preferences into Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis for Strategic Forest Management”.
  • Nathalia Nascimento (Universidade de Sao Paulo, Brasil) for the presentation with title “Spatial Patterns of Fire in the Atlantic Forest of Bahia: Analysis of Driving Factors and Risk Scenarios”.
  • Manuel Flores (The Forest School at the Yale School of the Environment, United States) for the presentation with title “Sphere of influence: Investigating how adjacent pasture and plantation affect secondary forest structure and health at the landscape scale in Bahia, Brazil”.
